HAMILTON - Services for James
Grover Smith, Sr., 91, who died Saturday, February 27th at Windsor
Place in Columbus, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 2nd at
Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton with the Rev. Terry Edwards
officiating. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born in Lamar County, Alabama to James Terrance and Sara
Perkins Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Hamilton, where he was
a member of Center Hill Baptist Church, and retired as an operator
for Walker Manufacturing Company.
He leaves a son, Clayton Smith and wife, Linda, of Aberdeen; a brother,
J.T. Smith and wife of Louisiana; a sister, Ollie Mason of Columbus;
16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velcie Garrett Smith; a
son, James Grover Smith, Jr.; two sisters, Mattie Morrison and
Earlie Edwards; two brother, Tollie Smith and William Smith.
Pallbearers are Gary Smith, James Allen, Wesley Lawrence, Mike Smith,
Bruce Smith and J.P. Buford.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 1st
at the funeral home. |
