NETTLETON - Services for James Elgar
Scribner, 91, who died Monday, February 15th at his residence, will
be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 17th at First Baptist
Church in Nettleton with the Revs. Donald Pounders and Paul Sims
officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park in Verona.
Mr. Scribner was born in Lee County to Walter and Isalene Ridings
Scribner. He was a lifelong resident of Nettleton, a retired farmer
and carpenter, and a member of Union Baptist Church. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of The Purple Heart. He
enjoyed repairing small engines and being with his dog "Sandy."
He leaves a daughter, Dianne Langley (Murl) of Nettleton; a son, James A.
Scribner (Jenoise) of Nettleton; four grandchildren, Kristy Scruggs
(Richard), Melinda Peters (Joe), David Scribner (Yvonne) and Ginger
Green (Chris); eight great grandchildren, Cody, Dylan, Brayden,
Bella, Cory, Perrish, Kaylee and Madalynn. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Johnnie Finney Scribner, his parents, seven sisters and
eight brothers.
Pallbearers are Chris Green, David Scribner, Richard Scruggs, Cody
Dickerson, Dylan Scruggs, Brayden Scruggs, Cory Scrivner and Joe
Peters.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the services.
