HAMILTON -
Services for
Joyce Simmons House, 81, who died Monday, January 25th at her residence,
will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 27th in the
Tisdale-Lann Memorial Aberdeen Chapel with Bro. Charles Caldwell and
Bro. David Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be in Center Hill
Cemetery.
Mrs. House was born in Monroe County to Henry Clay and Virginia Frances
Boyd Simmons. She was a lifelong resident of Hamilton and a graduate
of Hamilton High School. She was a member and Sunday School teacher
at Hamilton Presbyterian Church and was named Hamilton's Outstanding
Citizen of 1998. Mrs. House retired in 1974 as a presser for
Seminole Manufacturing Company. She worked as a Mary Kay consultant
and assistant librarian. She completed a term as Monroe County
Supervisor, Third District, following the death of her husband, who
held the office.
She leaves a daughter, Judy House Pugh of Hamilton; two grandchildren,
Nichole Pugh and Ian Pugh and wife, Bryndi, all of Hamilton; two
step grandchildren, Steve Chaffin and wife, Kim, and Rick Chaffin
and wife, Lisa, all of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her
parents; her husband, William L. "Bill" House, a son, William Clay
House; a daughter-in-law, Ritchie House; four sisters, Lillian
Summerford, Irene Hood, Beatrice Simmons and Barbara Mabry; three
brothers, Allen E. Simmons, Houston Malone and Basil Malone.
Pallbearers are Danny Simmons, Jeremy West, Danny Holloway, Don Holloway,
Wesley Lawrence and Adam Harmon. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy
Kirkpatrick, Fay Coleman, Van Wells, Jr., Dorlos Robinson and all
nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January
26th, ata the funeral home. |
