ABERDEEN - Services for Troy Cantrell, 82,
who died Wednesday, November 17th at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical
Center in Amory, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 20th in
the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Aberdeen Chapel with Rev. Tommy Moore
officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Easter Cemetery.
Mr. Cantrell was born in Greenwood Springs to Tom and Rose Flippo
Cantrell. He was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and a graduate
of Greenwood Springs School. He retired from Walker Manufacturing
Company after 37 years of service. He was a member of Bethel
Apostolic Church in Amory. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War
II, serving in Germany four years then in the Mississippi Army
National Guard for four years upon returning to the U.S. He was a
member of the VFW and served as surgeon general for nine years. He
was a member of the American Legion for 50 years.
He leaves two daughters, Diane Taylor and husband, Allen, and Shelia
Allen and husband, Donnie, all of Greenwood Springs; two sons, Troy
Cantrell, Jr. and wife, Becky, of Hamilton and Grady Thomas Cantrell
and wife, Rhonda, of Greenwood Springs; two sisters, Winona (Runt)
Hicks and Tommie Moore, all of Amory; special sister-in-law, Carol
McNeese and husband, Larry, of Smithville; nine grandchildren and 13
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor Lucille Smith
Cantrell; a brother, Leroy Cantree; a sister, Margaret Little and a
grandson, David Cantrell.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will take place from 4 until 7 p.m., Friday, November 19th, at
the funeral home.
